BIO
I am Victor Liapin, Russian playwright, author of 15 plays. I have 3 books of plays (“Whoosh, Beatrice “, 1999; “Hippo’s dreams”, 2000; “Have loved - Have lost - Have believed”, 2001) and book of poetry “The lights on the far shore”, 1990). My plays were staged in Australia, Albania, Germany, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia. I took part in many theatrical festivals. My first play “Funny alien sorrow” as a winner of the competition of Soros Foundation was staged in Theatre of Comedy (Nizhny Novgorod) in 1997.
My play "Hippo's dreams" was staged in Australia (NewSouth Uni Theatrical Society, Sidney), Albania (Theatre of Academy of Art, Tirana), Czech Republic (Theatre "Divadlo Zlin") and Russia. The director of performance in “Divadlo Zlin” Peter Stindl (Czech Rebublic) wrote about “Hippo’s dreams”: “The play is not easy but the work on it was a really good time for us. The play is full of colors and our performance too. What I can say is I am quite satisfied with the outcome. And this is really strong sentence for me. I think it is something different as usually (I mean this performance). I can say it with all responsibility because I had directed many new plays from different parts of world”.
My play “Gentlemen, comrades, bastards and ladies” was staged in Germany (“Berlin’s Chekhov theatre”), in Bulgaria (Targovishte Theatre), in Kazakhstan (TUZ of Alma-Ata), in Ukraine (Odessa theatre) and in many theatres of Russia.
One of my new play “The Pigeon” (Russian name “Wedding-Song”) took part in the festival “Open scene” of Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation and was staged during this festival in Theatre of Comedy (Nizhny Novgorod) in 2011. Than “The Pigeon” (Russian version) was staged in Mirninsky Theatre of Drama (Russia, Sakha Republic, 2013) and Motiginsky Theatre of Drama (Russia, 2013).
